Descriptif
The aim of this course is for students to discover some of the tricks of improvisational comedy in English and to practice quick-fire response to challenging situations without losing your mastery of the language.
We will begin with very simple exercises aimed at building your confidence and lifting your inhibitions. Then we will move on to more and more challenging situations, trying to emulate the kind of challenges you could meet in the real world or in the work-place, but with a playful approach.
Taking part in this course will not only give you a chance to extemporize in English, it will also help improve your teamwork and communication skills, while building your confidence in terms of public speaking.
Throughout the course we will also examine the cultural influence of British and American comedians, by watching and analyzing short videos that make fun of workplace situations.
Written work will also be based on short unprepared responses to unexpected situations.
Evaluation will be based on class participation and 3 short written assignments (all written in class).
