What’s happening in the world today with new technology and ethics?
This course will look at innovations in the areas of new tech and possible regulations.
From AI and chat GPT to jobs and the tech workforce, we will review the current debates relating to these topics.
Selected readings will be used to frame debates relating to these new areas in innovation and ethical concerns.
We will also discuss possible solutions developing prototype designs for opportunities in new technologies.
A dynamic course where we can envision a new future for a better environment!
Objectifs pédagogiques
By the end of the semester, you will have:
- extended your range in English vocabulary as well as technical /scientific vocabulary.
- developed basic skills in debate + prototype design.
- improved awareness of current dialogue and debates relating to new tech discussions.

INDIVIDUAL WORK
Class preparation and participation are mandatory. Required work will include an oral presentation and a short written assignment.
EVALUATION
Final grades will be based on class participation, oral presentations, and writing assignments.

Skills focus
Reading comprehension/ writing/ speaking/listening/ design
- You will work in groups/teams
- You will work on : articles and projects.
- Homework per class – review time + final prototype design project (3 hours)
Assessment
- Class presentation- a final project with teams presenting their ideas/designs/prototype (with a focus on environmentally friendly works) .
- Final oral presentations will include project phases or an executive summary as the business model.
- 2 oral presentations – midterm + final / 1 writing assignment/ class participation- weekly
