Langues - LEN_40105_TA : Cinema of the Fantastic

Domaine > Langues vivantes.

Descriptif

Suspended somewhere between the real and the supernatural, the mundane and the uncanny, the label ‘fantastic’ refers less to a specific genre than to a mode of representing artistic, social and psychological realities. This class will focus on Gothic and horror films that function as a kind of political unconscious in American and British culture. Our object of study will be not only the contents and discourse of these films, but the cinematic medium itself: image, sound, sequence.
