Langues - LEN_30207_TA : The Geopolitics of Climate (group 2)

Domaine > Langues vivantes.

Descriptif

The interplay of geographical location and power asymmetries, the dynamics of conflict and cooperation will be applied to the single most prominent issue in 21st century world politics: climate change. After understanding what climate change refers to and how it came into being in scientific and political terms, we will explore its geographically diverse impacts and the international regimes and organizations which have sought to deal with it. The discussion will focus on climate change negotiations and how these involve different values, interests and constraints among developed and developing countries in the global North and South. Considering the current energy and financial crisis, the issue of compliance with international norms and pledges in the politics of transition is raised. The course also includes a module on interviews for company traineeships.
