Domaine > Langues vivantes.

Descriptif

This course explores the intricate interplay between art and politics, examining how artistic expression can both shape and be shaped by political power. Together, we will investigate the role of art as a tool for state propaganda, a voice for countercultures, and a medium for self-expression. Hopefully, it will offer you insight and inspiration to express yourselves and create your own politically impactful artistic projects.

Key Topics:

  1. Art as State Propaganda Focus on historical and contemporary examples of state-sponsored art used to promote political agendas, from the Tudors to the Obamas.
  2. Fight the Power! Explore artistic movements that have challenged and resisted dominant political and cultural narratives, from the Beat Generation to punk rock, rap, and street art.

III. Express Yourselves! Examine the role of art in social and political revolutions, including the Civil Rights Movement, or feminist and LGBTQ+ activism. Study the impact of digital technology and social media on political art and activism.
