In this course we will examine whether your current communication style in English is fit for purpose. Whether writing for professional or informal audiences, by improving sentence structure and development of argument, you can take your fluency to the next level.
In this advanced C1+ course, students will examine how to use written language to communicate effectively to persuade an audience, to improve career opportunities, and to gain confidence in linguistic fluency. Success depends on motivation, and if you’re ready to push yourself, this course could help you break through to the next level.
Objectifs pédagogiques
Informal communication: increase confidence and awareness of strategies for effective email communication, social media and marketing posts.
Formal communication: learn strategies for how to structure and publish a journal article, technical presentation, or formal motivation letter.
Organizational messaging: learn strategies to organize your message to reach a specific audience: in marketing, networking, grant writing, management, client relations or negotiations.

Programme détaillé
- Classes will be active and based around discussion and group work. Participation in class activities and assignments will be essential.
- Classes will include reading exercises, practice dialogues, grammar games, timed writing activities, peer feedback, and group projects.
- Activities will address common grammatical errors and misused expressions to ensure your writing is effective and taken seriously.
- Homework will be consistent, including: online research, article reading and annotation, writing short pieces, peer review, and individual and group projects.
- Materials will be taken from a variety of books, websites, and student-generated practice material.
