Descriptif
This course explores engineering as a cultural, social and historical force. Through case studies, discussions and critical reflection, students will examine how engineers shape modern society, as well as how political, economic and ethical pressures shape engineering itself. The course is designed for students who wish to better understand their future profession, its responsibilities, and its place within society.
Objectifs pédagogiques
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Explain the historical development of the engineering profession
- Compare French engineering culture with international models
- Analyse how social and political contexts influence technological development
- Reflect critically on ethical and environmental issues in engineering
- Understand organisational and workplace dynamics
- Evaluate different models of leadership and innovation
- Present and defend ideas in a professional context
- Develop a personal vision of their role as an engineer
